Privacy & Cookie Policy

Last updated:  August 2026

Introduction

This website is operated by Emma Pownall ("I", "me", "my"). I'm committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how this website handles data — and, in short, it collects almost none.

This site does not use contact forms, sign-up forms, or any other means of capturing your personal data directly. If you'd like to get in touch or subscribe to updates, links on this site will take you to my LinkedIn profile, where any information you choose to share is governed by LinkedIn's own privacy policy.

What data this site collects

This website does not collect, store, or process any personal data through forms, subscriptions, or downloads.

  • No contact form — the "Contact" link takes you directly to LinkedIn.
  • No newsletter sign-up — the "Newsletter" link takes you directly to LinkedIn.
  • No accounts, logins, or member areas on this site.
  • No data is sold, shared, or transferred to third parties by this site, because none is collected.

Cookies

This site uses the following categories of cookies.

1. Strictly necessary cookies

Set automatically by Ionos to enable core site functionality. For example, remembering your cookie consent choice, supporting basic site security, and enabling page navigation.

2. Functional cookies

Remember choices you make on the site (such as language or region preferences) to provide a more personalised experience.

3. Analytics / performance cookies

Used to understand how visitors use the site. For example, which pages are viewed, how long visitors stay, and how they arrived at the site. This helps me to improve content and structure over time. Data collected is aggregated and statistical, not used to identify you personally.

4. Advertising / marketing cookies

Used to track visitors across websites and build a profile of interests, in order to serve more relevant advertising, or to measure the effectiveness of an ad campaign.

5. Social media / embedded content cookies

Set by third-party platforms when content from their services is embedded on this site — for example, an embedded podcast player, video, or social media post. These platforms may set their own cookies in line with their own privacy policies, which I don't control.

Cookie Consent

Only strictly necessary cookies are set automatically. All other categories above require your consent, requested via a cookie consent banner on your first visit. You can:

  • Accept all cookies
  • Reject non-essential cookies and browse with only strictly necessary cookies active
  • Customise your preferences by category, where the banner offers this option

You can change your mind at any time via [the cookie settings link in the site footer], which lets you revoke or update your consent with effect for the future.

Third-party links

This site links out to external platforms, primarily LinkedIn. Once you leave this site via one of these links, you're subject to that platform's own privacy policy and terms.

Your rights

Because this site does not collect personal data, most UK GDPR data subject rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) simply won't apply to your interaction with this site itself. If you believe this site has collected data about you in error, or you have any questions about this policy, please get in touch via book@emmapownall.com.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time — for example, if forms, analytics, or e-commerce functionality are added to the site. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent version. Please check back periodically.
